MEET THE COACHES
MARTY, TIM & MICHELE
Marty is one of our coaches for the LionsGold Level 4 team. His cheer journey actually started here at USyd on the Level 4 Coed Team in 2014. He likes cheerleading because it teaches team work, improves strength and coordination, and it has made him a better dancer. He started coaching because he wanted to give his athletes the mental toughness that comes with cheer and to prepare them for life. Marty is also a self-proclaimed pun master. His enthusiasm every training is very inspiring and he manages to get the best out of all athletes. We are excited to have Marty for another year on our new Level 4 team.
Tim is one of our coaches for LionsWhite Level 1, LionsBlue Level 2 and LionsGold Level 4, as well as our rec team! He has had 6 years of cheer experience, in both Uni and All Star teams. Tim’s favourite part about this sport is the cheer community. He found everyone was warm and welcoming when started cheer and wanted to give the same experience to others which is why he started coaching. Tim's support and encouragement to the team fosters personal growth and makes USyd cheer an enjoyable and rewarding place to be. When Tim’s not at the gym, you’ll probably find him working on his honours thesis for biomedical engineering, designing mechanical testing clamps for breaking tendons at Royal North Shore. We are super happy to have Tim back this year to coach the Lions!
Michele is our newest member of the coaching team. She has 9 years of teaching dance, 8 years of cheer experience and 6 years of coaching cheer. When Michele is not coaching, she is working as an exercise scientist, sharing her passion for movement through a gym and her online platform The Science of Fierce. Michele loves that cheerleading is for everyone and coaching allows her to help with this experience. We are excited to have her onboard and she is super excited to coach the LionsBlue Level 2, LionsGold Level 4 and the Poms Dance team this year!
