TRAINING INFO 2021

Commitment

Competitive Cheerleading is a team sport which requires a year-long commitment. Those who will be absent for an extended period of time and/or away on a semester abroad cannot join a competitive team including Level 1, Level 2 Non-Tumble, and Level 4. The L1, 2 and 4 teams will be entered in competitions throughout the year. All athletes from these teams are required to attend these competitions. The National Cheer and Dance Championships in Melbourne is mandatory for L2 and 4.

The recreational team and L1 semi-competitive team will have one two-hour training per week, the L2 and L4 competitive teams will have two-hour trainings twice a week.

code of conduct

ATTENDANCE

All team members are expected to attend every training unless they have a contagious illness, serious injury, a scheduled exam which clashes with training or are on a pre-planned holiday (with notice given to coaches in advance). Athletes are expected to arrive 5-10 minutes before training begins to ensure enough warm up time and to ensure training commences on time.

Injuries

We take every precaution to limit injuries, but due to the nature of cheerleading they can and do occur. All athletes must obtain compulsory
insurance through the university (SUSF and SUG membership). To ensure our coaches are aware of any health conditions or pre-existing injuries, all athletes must fill out and sign a medical waiver form prior to
training with USyd Cheer.

Conduct

No alcohol, smoking or drugs are permitted at any USyd training session, competition or event. Failure to comply with this may result in the participating athlete(s) being removed from the club. Team  members are representing the University of Sydney and should behave appropriately when representing USyd Cheer at competitions, on social media or when interacting with other clubs
